curiousity killed the cat and I'm here to avenge him.

This is Dr. James Corasanti.  On the night of July 8th, 2011, he was driving under the influence.  What’s more, he hit and killed 18-year-old Alexandria M. Rice who had been skateboarding on her way home from work.  Even more?  He didn’t stop.  He went home, deleted the texts he made while driving and he cleaned his car off.  (http://www.wgrz.com/news/local/story.aspx?storyid=127241)  This first source seems to say the investigation later located him, although at the trial (in the second source) they claimed he “sought legal counsel as soon as he realized that he had hit a person, and that there was no effort to “hide” from police.”  Then why did he remove the blood and body tissue from his car?  Why are those texts deleted?  In fact, a lot of the claims in court seem to be completely inconsistent.

“”Why didn’t he see her? she’s crouched down, she’s low, she’s mostly in black on the darker side of the road,” Buth told the jury.”

Who crouches while riding a skateboard?  Nobody, that’s who.  The only time you would crouch that low on a skateboard is to jump with it.  Otherwise, you’re standing straight to keep balance and leaning to keep momentum.

They claim that Alix Rice was wearing mostly black; false.  The defense presented the lime green top she had actually been wearing. (http://www.wkbw.com/news/local/Jury-Gets-Dr-Corasanti-Case-155510855.html)

“Corasanti testified he did not see the teen before or after the impact.

I guess the ruckus under the car just didn’t mean anything.  Must’ve hit a pothole!  And up-raised pothole!  Out of sight, out of mind, I guess!

“Corasanti’s defense lawyers have maintained Corasanti could not have saved Rice even if he had stopped at the scene. She died almost instantly from a broken neck.”

Almost instantly, you say?  Because my very first source seems to say she died later of her injuries.  But okay, I guess I see your point.  Nothing he could do, so go on home!

The jury charged Dr. Jame Corasanti with misdemeanor DWI.  In otherwords, he was intoxicated, but it apparently did not make him responsible for her death.  He gets to keep his medical license.  He gets to keep treating patients.  He was not charged with the tampering of physical evidence even though he cleaned it all off his car when he got home.  He supposedly contacted the police and turned himself as soon as he realised it, but still somehow had time to wash the car and delete the texts.  I have utterly lost hope for this city.  First that old broad gets away with killing Brian C. Dugan and now this.

There are even more sources on the web if you need more.  All I had to do to get most of them was to put in “Corasanti”.  This is no longer just a tragedy, it is an outrage.

Look, this may not be the best written tumblr post out there, but I have sources for every claim, every rebuttal.  It’s more than what Corasanti could even do for himself; the man was clearly guilty and you could tell by every reaction.  How surprised and relieved he was to got off so easy.  Everything he had done up until the verdict screamed guilt.

I’m not asking you to directly do anything about it; I’m not asking for donations or anything.  I’m asking that you reblog this post so that this can become common knowledge outside of this city.  It’s already stated that he has a place to live in Florida and with how people here are going to react to him, he’s likely going to try moving to a place where he doesn’t have to face his guilt.  PLEASE, reblog this.  People should see this.  People should know who they’re dealing with when they walk into the doctor’s office to get Dr. James Corasanti.  I know I would not want to be treated by a man who did nothing to help a teenage girl he caused direct harm and death to.  He did nothing but have his lawyer send the family condolences.  He did not pay for his crime.  That is not the type of person I want as a doctor.  He does not deserve his freedom or his license (or the right to teach at the University at Buffalo).

So, please.  Read the sources, find the videos about this entire ordeal.  Spread awareness.  Let people know.
